Summer 2026 Events in Northern New Jersey

Summer in Northern New Jersey is when these communities really come alive. The waterfront parks fill up, the farmers markets overflow with fresh produce, and street festivals turn ordinary blocks into celebrations. And this summer, we had a once-in-a-generation addition to the calendar: the 2026 FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium with eight matches, including the championship final on July 19 — which capped a historic month for Northern NJ. Norway's stunning 2-1 upset of Brazil in the Round of 16, with Erling Haaland scoring twice, was the highlight of MetLife's knockout stage, and the Championship Final brought the tournament to a dramatic close.

Whether you just moved here or you've lived in Bergen County your whole life, there's always something new to discover. Here's a curated rundown of the events worth putting on your calendar this season.

Farmers Markets Across the Region

Farmers market season is in full swing, and several towns run weekly markets through the fall. These are more than just places to buy produce. They're community gathering spots where you run into neighbors, discover local vendors, and get a real feel for your town.

• Englewood Farmers Market at Depot Square Park. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (June 4 through October 29). One of Bergen County's best, with a strong mix of produce, prepared foods, and artisanal goods.
• Teaneck Farmers Market at Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road. Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. (June 14 through October 25). There's also a Sunday market at the Cedar Lane municipal parking lot, running June 28 through November 1.
• Cliffside Park Farmers Market on Brinkerhoff Avenue. Sundays through October. A smaller, neighborhood-style market that's perfect for a casual weekend stroll.
• Fort Lee Farmers Market in the downtown area. Weekly through the summer season with Bergen County vendors.
• Hoboken Farmers Market at the waterfront. Saturdays (May through December) and Thursdays (June through October). One of the largest in the area, with a great mix of local farms and prepared foods.
• HDSID Farmers Market in Historic Downtown Jersey City. Mondays and Thursdays through the growing season.
• Ridgewood Farmers Market on East Ridgewood Avenue. Sundays from June 28 through October. One of Bergen County's most popular markets, with a wide selection of local produce, baked goods, and artisanal products.
• Rivervale Farmers Market on Veterans Memorial Drive. Thursdays from May through October. A smaller community market that's worth the visit for fresh, local produce.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup

This was the biggest event to hit Northern NJ in a generation. MetLife Stadium — rebranded as the New York New Jersey Stadium for the tournament — hosted eight FIFA World Cup matches between June 13 and July 19, 2026. All eight matches are now complete, including Norway's stunning 2-1 upset of Brazil in the Round of 16 on July 5, with Erling Haaland scoring twice in the final minutes. The Championship Final on July 19 was the last match at MetLife and the climax of a historic month for Northern NJ.

FIFA eliminated general parking at the stadium, so public transit was the primary mode of access. NJ Transit ran expanded service on match days, and while there was increased congestion on routes feeding into the Meadowlands — particularly Route 3, Route 120, and surrounding roads — the transportation system handled the volume well. For Bergen County commuters, the GW Bridge was not directly impacted.

Fan Fests and Watch Parties

You didn't need a stadium ticket to be part of the World Cup excitement. Throughout the tournament, watch parties and fan events brought communities together across the region:

• Overpeck County Park World Cup Fan Fest — This Flag Cities 2026 fan event took place on June 14 at Overpeck County Park (Leonia/Palisades Park border), featuring live match broadcasts, a 5-a-side soccer tournament, live music, DJs, cultural performances, food trucks, and a beer garden. Additional Flag Cities Fan Fests took place throughout the tournament in Newark and Jersey City.
• Championship Final Watch Parties — July 19 — Restaurants and bars across Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Hoboken, and Jersey City hosted viewing events for the biggest match of the tournament. Washington Street in Hoboken and the waterfront districts in Jersey City were prime spots, with Fort Lee's Korean and international dining corridors also drawing lively crowds.

Fort Lee

Fort Lee has a strong slate of summer events this year:

• Artisan Night Market — Saturday, August 8 at Fort Lee Commons, 4–9 p.m. Local artisans and vendors in the downtown area, with handcrafted goods, food, and live entertainment under the evening sky. One of the highlights of Fort Lee's summer calendar.
• 5th Annual Concours on the Palisades — July 12 (completed). A classic and exotic car show along the Palisades that drew automotive enthusiasts from across the tri-state area. Rain date is August 16 if rescheduled.
• Summer Sounds at the Commons — Free outdoor concert at Fort Lee Commons Park on August 7, 6–8:30 p.m. A beloved community tradition for live music on summer evenings.
• Concerts at 1 Park Avenue — Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists performed on July 17 (completed). Check the borough calendar for the next concert date.
• Summer Concert & Movie Series at the Jack Alter Community Center. Erich Cawalla & The Uptown Band (July 28, 7:30 p.m.), F1: The Movie (July 30, 8:30 p.m.). Free outdoor concerts and screenings continue through the summer.
• Fort Lee Farmers Market — Weekly on Sundays, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., with local produce, baked goods, and artisanal products from Bergen County vendors. Peak season means the best selection of the year.
• FIFA World Cup Championship Final — July 19 (completed). Fort Lee's Korean, Brazilian, and international communities came together for watch parties at local restaurants. The World Cup put Fort Lee's incredible dining scene on a global stage.

Leonia & Overpeck County Park

Leonia's community events reflect the borough's active civic calendar, and Overpeck County Park — straddling Leonia and Palisades Park — is a major summer destination:

• Run for Fun — July 4 (completed). Leonia's Independence Day tradition with a community running event, followed by the borough's Fourth of July celebrations.
• Star-Spangled Spectacular — July 4 at Overpeck County Park (completed). Youth activities, 20+ food trucks, a beer and wine garden, carnival attractions, and live music.
• Carmel Feast and Music Under the Stars — July 8–11 (completed) in nearby Lyndhurst. A beloved community festival with live music, food, and cultural programming.
• Overpeck County Park Concerts — Swingadelic at the Overpeck County Park Amphitheater on July 24 (rescheduled), and Dr. K's Motown Revue on July 30. Both free, starting at 7 p.m. The park is also a fantastic spot for summer picnics, walking trails, and paddling on the lake.

Hoboken

The Mile Square City doesn't slow down in summer:

• DanceFest at ResilienCity Park — June 30, July 7, and July 14 (all completed). The free outdoor dance festival wrapped up its season on the Hoboken waterfront.
• Church Square Park Wednesday Evening Concert Series — Free weekly concerts every Wednesday from July 1 through August 26, 7–9 p.m. One of Hoboken's most beloved summer traditions. Upcoming concerts continue through late August.
• Movies Under the Stars — Free outdoor screenings on Wednesday nights at Pier A Park through July 29, starting at 9 p.m. This Wednesday is the final screening for the season — don't miss it.
• St. Ann's Italian Festival — July 22 through 26 (completed). The 116th annual edition of one of the largest Italian street festivals in the country wrapped this past weekend. Live music, carnival rides, zeppoles, sausage and peppers, and traditional Italian food along Jefferson Street. Mark your calendar for 2027.
• Sinatra Summer Concert Series — Friday, July 30 at Sinatra Park. Free waterfront concerts with the Manhattan skyline as your backdrop continue through the summer.
• Hoboken My Way Sinatra Sing-Off — August 13 at Sinatra Park. A celebration of Hoboken's most famous son, with amateur vocalists competing in an open-air singing contest along the waterfront.
• Summer BlockFest on August 22 at 770 Jackson Street (rain date August 29). The 4th annual hip-hop festival and community celebration with live music, local food vendors, artisanal crafts, and family activities.

Jersey City

Jersey City's cultural calendar is packed:

• Groove on Grove — Wednesdays through August, 6–9 p.m. at the Grove Street PATH Plaza. Free live music from local and regional bands in a street-festival atmosphere. One of Downtown Jersey City's signature summer series.
• Carrington Village Caribbean Festival — July 18 (completed). A celebration of Caribbean culture and West Indian heritage with food, live entertainment, local artists, and activities zone.
• Jersey City Night Market II: K-Pop Foodie Fest on August 1. A special edition of the city's popular night market series celebrating Korean food and culture, reflecting the area's growing Korean community.
• La Festa Italiana — August 5 through 9 at Holy Rosary Church, 344 6th Street. A 120+ year tradition with Italian food, drinks, and live entertainment. One of Jersey City's most beloved annual events.
• Jersey City Summer Fest Concert Series — Sundays at 6 PM at North Cove Field, Tuesdays at 6:30 PM on the South Lawn, and Thursdays at 6:30 PM at Berry Lane Park. Running through August 25.
• Jersey City Puerto Rican Parade & Festival — August 15–16. The 66th annual celebration featuring a parade, food, live music, and cultural programming.

Englewood

Englewood's cultural scene continues to grow:

• Englewood Night Market — July 17 (completed). 50+ food vendors, outdoor bars, live DJs, entertainment, and local businesses transformed East Palisade Avenue into a massive block party. One of the summer's best community events — mark your calendar for next year.
• Jazz Under the Stars — Every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Englewood Public Library. Free summer concert series continuing through the season.
• Englewood Art and Wine Festival in early fall along Palisade Avenue. An annual celebration drawing visitors from across Bergen County.
• bergenPAC Summer Performances throughout the season. Check bergenpac.org for the full 2026 lineup of concerts, family shows, and touring productions.
• Bergen County Movies & Music in the Park — 25 free events across four county parks through August. Concert highlights at the Overpeck County Park Amphitheater include Swingadelic (July 23) and Dr. K's Motown Revue (July 30), both at 7 p.m. The Riverside County Park Music in the Park series continues with Suit & Mai Tai (July 28), all starting at 7 p.m.
• Ridgewood Summer Concert Series — Free concerts at the Kasschau Memorial Shell on East Ridgewood Avenue every Tuesday evening (8:30–10 p.m.) and Thursday evening (7:30–9:30 p.m.) through early August. One of the most charming summer concert experiences in Bergen County.

Teaneck

• Summer Concert Series — Every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Sen. Loretta Weinberg Bandshell in Votee Park. Free weekly concerts through July 29. A beloved tradition for live music under the summer sky. This week's concert features the Teaneck Community Band.
• Independence Day Parade and Celebration — July 3 (completed). Teaneck's annual community parade and celebration featuring floats, marching bands, and family activities throughout the township.
• Teaneck Farmers Market — Thursdays, 1–7 p.m. at Garrison Avenue and Beverly Road through October 25. Also a Sunday market at the Cedar Lane municipal parking lot through November 1. Peak season means the best local produce of the year.
• Teaneck Armory Pickle Palooza — Launched this April, this inaugural tournament and food truck festival drew more than 2,000 pickleball enthusiasts and residents. Mark your calendar for the 2027 edition.
• Bergen County Zoo Jr. Zookeepers Program — The June 29–July 3 session has wrapped. A hands-on educational program at the Bergen County Zoo in Van Saun Park — check bergenpets.org for future session dates.

July 4th Highlights — Completed

Independence Day celebrations wrapped up earlier in July, with communities across Bergen and Hudson Counties delivering big events. Here's what happened:

• Star-Spangled Spectacular — Overpeck County Park (Leonia/Ridgefield Park border). Youth activities, 20+ food trucks, a beer and wine garden, carnival attractions, and live music with the NJ Wind Symphony performing with cannons.
• Ridgefield Park — Baby parade, civic parade, and evening fireworks.
• Ramsey — Independence Day celebration with fireworks at Finch Park.
• Glen Rock — July 4th parade.
• Paramus — Fireworks at Community Park.
• Allendale — Fireworks at Crestwood Lake.
• Jersey City Freedom Fireworks Festival — Annual fireworks display over the Hudson River.
• Fort Lee Summer Concert & Movie Series — Free outdoor concerts and screenings at the Jack Alter Community Center.

Market Snapshot: What's Driving the Summer Season

Beyond events, the Northern NJ real estate market is reflecting the same energy. Bergen County's median sale price for all property types reached approximately $788,000 as of mid-2026, up 4.7% year-over-year, with a median price per square foot of $458 (up 6.9% annually). Active listings hit 2,103 as of August 1, 2026 — the most inventory available in years, with new single-family listings up 8.3% year-over-year and closed sales rising 13.0%. Even so, months of supply sits at 1.4–1.7 months, firmly in seller's market territory. Homes are selling in an average of 63 days, down from 68 days last year. In Hudson County, the Zillow Home Value Index stands at $638,652 (up 0.8% YoY), with condos posting a significant 18.6% jump in median price to $750,000. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate is currently at 6.69% (Freddie Mac PMMS, August 6), holding in the mid-to-upper six-percent range through early August.
