Where Can You Play Pickleball in Bergen County NJ? A 2026 Court Guide
Bergen County has quietly become one of the best places to play pickleball in the New York metro area, and the courts keep multiplying. Dedicated public courts now operate across the county, from the six-court complex in Ridgewood to four brand-new courts at Paramus's Petruska Park. Here is where to play in 2026, with addresses and practical details for each spot.

Take the QuizPickleball has become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and Bergen County has kept pace. The appeal is easy to explain: it is social, low-impact, and simple enough to learn in one afternoon, which is why it attracts everyone from retirees to young families. What is harder is knowing where the nets are. This guide rounds up the public courts across the county so you can find one near your new neighborhood.
Most of the courts below are free and open on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability shifts with the weather and the season. It is worth checking a town's parks and recreation page before you drive out, especially on weekends.
Ridgewood: The County's Biggest Dedicated Complex
Ridgewood is the town to beat for dedicated pickleball. The Glen Pickleball Courts at 865 East Glen Avenue, behind Glen School, offer six dedicated outdoor courts built for pickleball, and the village also operates courts at 408 North Monroe Street. Both are run by Ridgewood Parks and Recreation and draw a friendly regular crowd.
If you are scouting the village as a possible home, my honest guide to living in Ridgewood covers the schools and the commute, and the Ridgewood town page has the full local picture.
Paramus: Petruska Park's Brand-New Courts
Paramus opened four dedicated public pickleball courts at Petruska Park on Farview Avenue in April 2026, and they have been busy ever since. The courts are open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving commuters real morning and evening windows to play. Nationwide chain gyms and the Bergen Community College campus in town also host court time, but Petruska is the dedicated, free, town-run option.
Paramus is the county's shopping and highway hub, so many home shoppers end up comparing it to the walkable towns to the east. The Paramus town page walks through what daily life there is actually like.
Fort Lee and Teaneck: Neighborhood Courts
Two GWB-corridor towns have dependable public options. Fort Lee has public pickleball courts at William Birch Park at 500 Stillwell Avenue, and Teaneck offers courts at Milton Votee Park along West Englewood Avenue. Both are classic municipal parks in walkable neighborhoods, with plenty of other recreation around while you wait for a court.
Both towns are frequent starting points for home searches in the corridor, and the Fort Lee town page and Teaneck town page cover the schools, commutes, and markets in detail.
Bergen County Park Courts
The county itself runs pickleball courts at several regional parks, which opened for the season on a daily 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. schedule on a first-come, first-served basis. You will find courts at Glen Rock, Westwood, and Wood Dale County Park in Woodcliff Lake, which offers a two-court setup in a scenic county setting. Overpeck County Park in Leonia and Riverside County Park also have pickleball, and both are easy drives from Hackensack and the northeast corner of the county.
County parks pair beautifully with everything else on offer, from the playgrounds in my best parks and playgrounds guide to the walking trails in the dog-friendly parks roundup.
A Few First-Timer Tips
Bring a paddle if you have one, or borrow from a regular at the court: pickleball players are famously welcoming. Court shoes with good lateral support help more than you would think, and on weekends the most popular courts fill fast, so arrive early or check for open-play clinics in Ridgewood and Paramus, which are great ways to meet neighbors.
For organized play, the Bergen County Pickleball Club in Tenafly hosts scheduled sessions beyond the public park courts.
The Bottom Line
Whether you are a dedicated player or a first-timer, Bergen County has a court within a short drive of almost any address. Ridgewood and Paramus offer the marquee facilities; Fort Lee, Teaneck, and the county parks fill in the rest.
When you are ready to start the home search, the sport can even help narrow the list: towns with serious pickleball culture tend to check every other box too, from parks to commutes to community feel. I have helped hundreds of families find the right town in Bergen and Hudson Counties, and I am glad to help you do the same.
